Picking The Right Piece of Wall Art:
DM
With so many selections, from a plethora of very talented artists, designers, and photographers, selecting a piece of wall art that fits well within your décor can be tough. Selecting a black and white photograph is far easier, the effort of trying to match color schemes is all but eliminated. However many canvas pieces and wall art come in color combinations and looks that make tying everything together difficult.
When attempting to select a wall piece the best first step is to select a piece of work that matches your overall decorating style. For example here at DomesticModern.com we focus on modern and contemporary home goods, so we would naturally select a more modern piece of wall art. Narrowing your selections down by genre is fairly easy to do. Secondly, and just as importantly color selection is very important. Depending on the size of the room and color of your walls you want to go with a darker or lighter feel. Smaller rooms and or darker walls warrant a lighter color palette. Whereas larger rooms and or lighter walls warrant a darker color palette.
Lastly size and shape selection is something that cannot be overlooked either. A common mistake many people make is to simply select the largest size that fits within their budget. However that is not always a good idea, and you could end up with something that makes a room look congested, and cramped. Select a print that will leave ample room between it and the ceiling as well as between other prints, doors, and windows.
These three techniques should go a long way in helping you select the right piece of wall art for your home. The rest depends on your own personal taste and style – happy shopping!
